Experience a journey of the senses in a fairytale castle – It’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting for dinner than this castle in the Swiss Alps where the stunning mountain views are matched by the exquisite cooking of Andreas Caminada.

The Swiss chef honed his skills at fine dining destinations such as Wirtschaft zum Wiesengrund in Zurich and Bareiss at Baiersbronn-Mitteltal in Germany, before taking over the restaurant at Schloss Schauenstein in 2003. Since then he has racked up numerous awards, including bagging three Michelin stars at the tender age of 33, and is now considered to be one of the most talented and best-known chefs in Europe.

Caminada’s menu takes diners on a journey of the senses, skilfully exploring the interaction between aromas, textures and flavours in often simple and familiar ingredients. Goose liver is beautifully balanced with zesty goat’s cheese and sweet maize in various guises, including ice cream and gazpacho, while a painstakingly constructed plate of seared brook trout with tarragon sauce, red beets and pea purée provides a kaleidoscope of colour.

The dining room has a grand feel with marble floors and wood panelled walls, while the tome-like wine list features heavyweights from Bordeaux and Burgundy, plus an excellent selection hailing from Switzerland’s finest vineyards.
