Serving as holiday home to Latin America’s élite, the town of Punta del Este is the perfect spot for this French fine-dining restaurant, which serves authentic Burgundy fare in an elegant setting. French chef Jean-Paul Bondoux and his wife opened the restaurant after moving to Uruguay more than three decades ago and since then Bondoux has expanded his mini-empire into Argentina and Chile.

Using products from his own farm, Bondoux produces courgette flowers stuffed with chicken and virgin olive oil, as well as rack of roast lamb in garden herbs. La Bourgogne, part of the Relais & Châteaux network of élite restaurants, is set within a pine forest and surrounded by a magnificent garden, which adds to its charm. Guests can dine on the patio surrounded by colourful flowers for a unique, peaceful alfresco experience.
